Come and play, everything’s a-okay…

Come and play, everything’s a-okay…

This is a bit late, but let’s pause for a moment, and take a stroll down memory lane – or in this case, Sesame Street – to remember and celebrate the life and work of Jim Henson, who died twenty years ago last week.

It’s time to play the music…

20 Years Later, Remembering Jim Henson: It’s been 20 years since the world lost Jim Henson. His death at age 53 was sudden and catastrophic, like being hit by lightning on a cloudless day. Six GeekDads share their thought on this anniversary of his passing… (via Wired News.)

And for insight into how some GeekDads act on their fondness and nostalgia for Sesame Street and The Muppet Show

Top 10 Greatest Muppet Mash-Ups Ever: The Muppet Mash-Up has become one of the better genre surprises on You Tube. At first, they were just poorly retreaded Ernie and Bert impersonations over old Sesame Street footage, but they have evolved into an ongoing challenge to see who can mash the beloved family icons up with the craziest, and preferably the most inappropriate, soundtracks imaginable… as you will soon see. Here are the ten best we could find, judged on originality, synchcronization and passion… (via Ranker – A World of Lists.)

(Thanks to Cory Doctorow at Boing Boing for letting me know about these mashups, which I hadn’t run across before – guess I don’t spend enough time wandering through the mirrored halls of YouTube.)

Oh - and hello to Jason Isaacs.

The 400 Blows

zerode

is an over-caffeinated and under-employed grad school dropout, aspiring leftwing intellectual and cultural studies academic, cinéaste, and former poet. Raised in San Francisco on classic film, radical politics, burritos and soul music, then set loose upon the world. He spends his time in coffee shops with his laptop and headphones, caffeinating and trying to construct a post-whatever life.

What's in a name... The handle "zerode" is a contraction of Zéro de Conduite, the title of Jean Vigo's 1933 movie masterpiece about schoolboy rebellion.
