The Most Wonderful Time of the Year – but not quite yet

Over on Facebook, my mate Brendan asked recently if it were time for Christmas music yet, to which I responded with a most emphatic NO. Way too early. It may be “the most wonderful time of the year” – but not yet. I’m glad to see I’m not alone in feeling this way:

Sorry, Frosty, not yet: I love Christmas music. Love, love, love it! Have scads of it. Perry. Andy. Elvis. Ella. Dean. Bing. But I love it when the snow is falling, when I’m wrapping presents, when I’m baking cookies and trimming the tree – not on November 1st. (via Emjayandthem’s Blog.)

But… just as a teaser let me tell you that I am preparing a big selection of Christmas music and clips to post all through the holiday season, a different Christmas post every day – a virtual advent calendar – beginning on December 1 and running until Christmas.

And in case you really, really, really can’t wait, here’s a little taste…. Andy Williams, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”

Oh - and hello to Jason Isaacs.

The 400 Blows

is an over-caffeinated and under-employed grad school dropout, aspiring leftwing intellectual and cultural studies academic, cinéaste, and former poet. Raised in San Francisco on classic film, radical politics, burritos and soul music, then set loose upon the world. He spends his time in coffee shops with his laptop and headphones, caffeinating and trying to construct a post-whatever life.

What's in a name... The handle "zerode" is a contraction of Zéro de Conduite, the title of Jean Vigo's 1933 movie masterpiece about schoolboy rebellion.
